Amaszonas is a low cost airline based in Bolivia, headquartered in La Paz. It operates scheduled and chartered short-haul passenger flights throughout the northern and northeastern regions of the country as well as to neighboring Peru, Chile and Paraguay, with its network’s hub being located at El Alto International Airport.

Amaszonas was born as the airline flag of the city of La Paz and its connection to the department of Beni with unconventional routes in low-capacity aircraft, with the incorporation of the new CRJ200 fleet aims to consolidate the main routes of the country and even its expansion to international destinations. The company was founded in 2000. Its name comes from the phrase “A more areas” that has an identical sound to “Amazonas”, currently maintains a code-share agreement with the Aerocon airline for flights to northern Bolivia and a Interlínea agreement with StarPerú for its route La Paz – Lima. It is currently in the process of expanding international routes to Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and other countries in the region.

 

The airline was founded on 1 October 1998, but flight services were only commenced in 2000. Initially only operating chartered services using a small fleet of turboprop aircraft, it grew in 2012 and acquired larger aircraft offing scheduled passengers services. In late 2014 they announced their intentions to lease 9 CRJ200 aircraft to expand their regional network even more so.

The Bolivian airline flies to destinations across Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay. Destinations included the Argentinian capital of Buenos Aires, Cochabamba, Oruro, Sucre, Tarija, Uyuni (all located in Bolivia), Montevideo (Uruguay) and Cuiaba (Brazil) amongst others. By the end of 2017, Amaszonas offered 40 destinations on their route network across both scheduled and chartered services. After the bankruptcy of Alas Uruguay, the airline is one of the few airlines left offering services to Montevideo.

Economy Class

Amaszonas Economy Class is the airline’s only cabin class that it offers.

Economy Class Facilities

There’s no in-flight entertainment system on the flight. However, passengers may be given a copy of the airline’s in-flight magazine, depending on the route flown.

The airline serves a small selection of food and drinks onboard.

Economy Class Seats

Seats are set out in a 2 x 2 formation. The aircraft has a total of 50 seats in the cabin. The cabin is designed to give ample legroom and good comfort for each passenger.

Fleet

Amaszonas currently only operate using two types of aircraft: a Bombardier CRJ-200 and Fairchild Metro. In total they have 9 aircraft in their fleet, each with a maximum passenger capacity of 50 passengers. It is also believed that Línea Aérea Amaszonas have an additional aircraft on order.

It must not exceed a maximum weight of 5 kg (BOMBARDIER CRJ-200).

They must not exceed the measures of: 45 cm. X 40 cm X 20 cm

Check In baggage

INTERNATIONAL ROUTE BAGGAGE

It must not exceed a maximum weight of 23 kg for adults and children under 2 to 11 years.

DOMESTIC ROUTE BAGGAGE

It must not exceed a maximum weight of 20 kg for adults and 10 kg for children under 2 up to 11 years.
