Macao is a special administrative area in China, located west of Hong Kong. Known as a paradise for gamblers, this city has just over 600,000 residents, but still has its own airport and airline with one or the other interesting destination in the flight plan. With a fleet of 22 aircraft in total, only Asian destinations are served, making Air Macau an option for travelers from Macau or Hong Kong.

Most of the airports in the airline’s network are in China. Here, for example, the capital city of Beijing or the largest city of Shanghai is served. For tourists, destinations such as Bangkok in Thailand, Hanoi in Vietnam, Seoul in Korea or Tokyo and Osaka in Japan are also interesting. Via Code-Sharing Partner, it’s also going to nearby Manila in the Philippines, which is currently very popular with beach vacationers.

Since Air Macao 澳門航空 often has a bargain to offer to Southeast Asia, passengers or tourists in Hong Kong may well consider bridging around 50 minutes by ferry to Macau and then starting from there to surrounding countries.

Even with a free baggage allowance of up to 20 kilograms in Economy Class, Air Macau has its nose ahead of other Asian budget airlines. At present, the airline also has some larger code-sharing partners, giving travelers more options for mainland China and surrounding states. A co-operation exists with Air China, the Japanese All NipponAirways, with the Korean Asiana Airlines, with Philippine Airlines as well as with Thai Airways and the Chinese Shenzhen Airlines.

Air Macau is the flag carrier of Macau and operates to many destinations within China, as well as to other parts of East Asia. The airline is based at Macau International Airport (MFM) and flies to more than 20 destinations overall.

Air Macau was founded in 1994 and flew its inaugural services in 1995, with flights from Macau to Beijing and Shanghai. Upon launch, the airline became the first airliner to offer flights in Macau since 1962.

Air Macau is owned by China National Aviation Corporation, STDM, EVA Air and the Government of Macau. Most of Air Macau’s flights are across the Taiwan Strait with many flights scheduled between Macau and Taipei and Macau and Kaohsiung.

Air Macau has codeshare agreements with Air China, All Nippon Airways, Asiana Airlines, Philippine Airlines, Shenzhen Airlines.
